Children/Youth
At Second Baptist Church are seeking to build a culture in which “children are not a distraction from more important work; they are the most important work.” (C.S. Lewis)
Nurturing Faith in the Next Generation
By God’s grace, we work to provide a context in which children not only know about God but are also given opportunity to “taste and see that the Lord is good” (Psalm 34:8).
We do that every Sunday through Family Worship together in our morning service (singing, scripture reading, and prayer) before elementary aged children are dismissed for Junior Church and a time of Bible study, games, and activities geared for their age.
Family Sunday
Every fifth Sunday is a Family Sunday, in which children remain in the service and participate in all and often facilitate many of the aspects of our Sunday morning gathering.
Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School at Second Baptist Church in North Stonington is a fun, faith-filled week for kids and families, happening July 6–10, 2026. Throughout the week, children will enjoy engaging Bible lessons, music, games, activities, and time with friends in a welcoming environment designed to help them grow in faith and have a great time doing it.
Wednesday Olympians
Every Wednesday evening from 5:30PM-7:00PM, September through May, we offer an Olympians program from 4 years old through 6th grade that features the Olympic theme and urges children to “go for the gold” in their pursuit of godliness, guiding them information of essential spiritual habits.
Wednesday Youth Group
Our Middle and High School Youth group also meets on Wednesday evenings, focusing on what it means to “walk in the light” as a young person in today’s world through discussion-based formats such as Alpha Youth and Life Revealed.
